Actively backing women-led businesses

Make Stuff
Happen.

(Behind closed doors, the S stands for something stronger. 🙂)

A mother and daughter partnership backing women building businesses that make the world better, in places capital doesn't usually go. We bring capital, mentorship, philanthropic initiatives, and a network of people worth knowing.

Where this comes from

The question was never what to do with the money.

When Elisabete sold CQ fluency, the company she had spent twenty five years building, what the two of us kept coming back to was what we wanted to build together. Something we could grow side by side, and something that put our time and our capital behind what matters most to both of us. This is it.

Elisabete brings the operator's lens. Naiana brings over fifteen years in leadership training and impact investing. Two views of one mission: back the women the market keeps overlooking.

We've put capital behind more than fifty entrepreneurs, directly and through aligned funds.

You can't be what you can't see.

Mentors, women and men, opened doors for us. More than that, they showed us it could be done. That's what we want to be for the entrepreneurs we back. Not only the capital, but the example. Yes, it's possible. Yes, you can too.

We invest with our whole selves: heart, gut, and head. In that order.

Why we do this

The return that matters most.

Neither of us got here alone. We were carried by a community of entrepreneurs, many of them women from diverse backgrounds and immigrants, who made introductions, gave honest advice, and believed us before there was much evidence to go on. Passing that forward is the whole point.

So we measure two returns. The financial one matters and we take it seriously, because a business that doesn't work can't help anyone. But the return we care about most is what changes for the entrepreneur, her family, and the community she's building in. A return that leaves a place exactly as it found it isn't the return we're after.

2%

Women own about 40% of US businesses, yet fewer than 2% ever reach $1 million in annual revenue. And all women founding teams receive just 2% of venture capital.

Those numbers have barely moved in more than a decade. They say nothing about the quality of the businesses being built. They say everything about who is holding the check.

And when a woman builds wealth, it rarely stops with her. It moves outward, into her family, into the people she hires, into the neighborhood she hires them from. Back one woman and you are almost never backing one household.

The money isn't missing. It's pointed somewhere else.

We're not venture capitalists.

We're the people we invest in. We've started the businesses, put our own money in, made payroll when it was tight, and closed the ones that didn't work. We know what this looks like from the inside, because we have stood where you're standing.

Equality isn't a value we hang next to the investing. It is the investing. Every check is a small correction to a distribution that was never built on merit in the first place.

We're here to walk the path with you.

The two of us

Elisabete & Naiana

Elisabete and Naiana Miranda
Cofounder

Elisabete Miranda

Before she moved to the United States, Elisabete had already started and run eleven small businesses in Brazil. Some went better than others. Two of them she had to close, and she counts those among the most useful things she has ever learned.

She arrived without speaking a word of English, and CQ fluency came out of that. She knew what it was to sit in a room and not be understood, and millions of people were living the same thing, most consequentially in healthcare, where not being understood can cost you your life. She spent twenty five years building a culturally intelligent translation company to solve it, bootstrapped it from nothing into a multi-million dollar global business with a presence in twenty four countries, and sold it to private equity.

She led it the way she still believes a company should be led, with the heart in front. Put people first, build a place where they can be themselves at work, and the profit follows. Plenty of people called that naive. It turned out not to be.

She brings hard experience in hiring, scaling, finance, and exit, and proof that culture shows up on the bottom line.

Romantic capitalist.
Cofounder

Naiana Miranda

Naiana has more than fifteen years in leadership training. She founded her own training company and has worked with Fortune 500 executives, startup teams, and everyone in between. She went on to impact investing, with an MBA and a graduate degree in the field, and sits on the board of the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth North America. She also co-created the Amazon Chamber of Commerce, a public private partnership connecting businesses in the Brazilian Amazon to capital and partners in the US.

She grew up in a mission driven entrepreneurial family, so purpose and sustainability aren't filters she applies at the end. They're how she reads a business from the first conversation.

What she does best is build bridges. Her network is deep and deliberately values aligned, and she has a gift for knowing which two people need to meet. She's also deeply intuitive about people, which tells her the part of an entrepreneur no financial model ever will.

You matter. So does where your energy and your money go.

What we bring

Not just capital.
Capital with company.

Capital
Patient capital, early.

Money that doesn't rush you.

Mentorship
Someone who's done it.

Guidance from an operator who has built, scaled, and exited.

Confidence
The words for it.

The voice, clarity, and courage to share what you're really building.

Connection
The right room.

A trusted network, opened for you.

What we look for

Women-led businesses that already have customers.

You have revenue. You have enough of a track record to know what's working and what isn't, and you can see what your business could become with a little more room to move.

And you're solving a real problem. We back mission driven businesses, where the purpose isn't a line in the deck but the reason the company exists. Not a nice to have, but something that makes a genuine difference to the people you serve and to the place you serve them in.

We're not the right partner for an idea on paper. Not because ideas don't matter, but because capital and the right introductions do the most good for something already in motion. Come back to us when it is.

The numbers

$250,000 to $1 million

Annual revenue. We're flexible on structure. We design it around your business, not the other way around.

The people

The numbers get you in the door. The people are what we're investing in. We back entrepreneurs who have put their own money and their own sweat into what they're building, who bet on themselves before anyone else would, and who will do whatever it takes when it gets hard. It always gets hard.

Where we look

Women's health. Education. Consciousness and wellbeing. Climate resiliency, and particularly what sits at the intersection of gender and climate. And anything else where the business itself makes life better for the people it reaches.
